Welcome from the President

The Brazilian Section of the IUSSI invites you to join us at the Union’s 18th Congress in Guarujá, a médium-sized city on the coast of São Paulo State. Guarujá is the major seashore tourist resort in São Paulo, located on the Tropic of Capricorn and in a spectacular location, in front of an Atlantic bay and backed by the Atlantic Rainforest mountain range. The name Guarujá comes from the Tupi language and means “narrow path”.

Guarujá is easily accessible from the São Paulo International Airport Guarulhos via the Imigrantes Highway, which takes you from São Paulo city (800 m above sea level) down to the coast, with spectacular views of the Atlantic Rainforest. We will arrange for transfer services from this airport.

The conference will be held during the period of August 05-10, 2018 in the Convention Center of the Casa Grande Hotel, which offers excellent and convenient congress and hotel services. Its location is right on the shore, and to open your appetite, please check out the hotel’s own website (http://www.casagrandehotel.com.br/en/). We will arrange for special hotel per night fees including complete breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet options. Being part of the beachfront complex of Guarujá, the Casa Grande Hotel and Convention Center is also surrounded by other accommodation and restaurant options of all price ranges, so the congress should fit with everybody’s pocket.

The most important thing will, of course, be an attractive scientific program and for this the Organizing Committee will start to ask you for suggestions.

And to start or complete your visit to this part of Brazil we will arrange a variety of pre and post congress tours. But as adventurous delegates you can also easily rent vehicles of all kinds to do your own tours.

We look forward to welcoming you in 2018.

Regards,

Klaus Hartfelder
